A practical review for employers of contracts, policies, personnel files, approvals and dispute handling under Egypt's Labour Law No. 14 of 2025.
Inventory the existing employment model
Start with worker categories, work locations, contract forms, pay components and any collective or sector-specific arrangements. Compare the current documents and practice with the Labour Law No. 14 of 2025 and applicable decisions. Record a gap only after identifying which workforce and fact pattern it affects.
Align contracts, policies and records
Review the offer-to-onboarding journey, employment contracts, personnel files, work rules, attendance, leave, payroll inputs and notices. A policy may be well drafted but ineffective if no one owns the form or retains evidence that it was communicated and applied.
Map decisions with legal consequences
Identify who approves changes to role or pay, investigations, sanctions, grievances and exits; who prepares the record; and who checks procedural requirements before a decision is issued. Escalate matters where the facts or available evidence are disputed. A documented route reduces inconsistent treatment across departments.
Run a phased remediation programme
Prioritize urgent legal gaps and high-volume processes, assign owners, set realistic dates and train line managers. Review implementation through sample employee files and real workflows. The employer should periodically revisit the programme as ministerial decisions and business practices develop.
Before you act
- Inventory contracts, employee categories and existing policies by worksite.
- Assign an owner for each gap and test the correction on sample personnel files.
- Train managers on approvals and documentation before rolling out new forms.
Questions we often hear
Does changing the contract template complete the transition?
No. Policies, records, managerial approvals and the actual employee lifecycle need review as well.
Can one checklist cover every employer?
A common framework helps, but the business model, workforce, sector and applicable decisions determine the detailed requirements.
